Question 2

What should I expect with my first hair system?

Accepted Answer

TRUST THE PROCESS.

For all first-time Non-Surgical Hair Replacement clients, your new hair system will initially have more body, fullness, and volume. At first, it may even feel or appear like it is too much hair. This is completely normal.

Over approximately 4–6 weeks, the hair will begin to settle, relax, and fall more naturally, giving you an even more natural-looking appearance.

Think about getting a new haircut on your natural hair. Sometimes you have to train your hair to lay, part, and style the way you want it. A new hair system is very similar. You and your new hair need a little time to adjust to one another.

Give yourself time to adjust. When you have experienced baldness or thinning hair for a period of time, suddenly seeing yourself with a full head of hair can feel like a major change. You may notice every little detail because you know you're wearing a hair system—but that does not mean other people can tell.

Most of the concerns and insecurities during the adjustment period come from you knowing your hair has changed. Other people generally have no reason to know you are wearing a hair system unless they already knew about your previous hair loss, thinning or baldness—or you choose to tell them.

Please don't judge your new hair system by the first day or first week. Give it time to settle, learn how to care for and style it, and allow yourself time to adjust to seeing the new you.

TRUST THE PROCESS. TRUST YOUR PROFESSIONAL. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, GIVE YOURSELF TIME.

At A Better You Hair Studio, our goal isn't simply to give you hair—it's to help restore your confidence so you can feel like A Better You.

Question 3

How long does a non-surgical hair replacement system last?

Accepted Answer

The lifespan of your hair system depends on the base selected, your lifestyle, home care, and how well you follow your stylist’s maintenance instructions. Depending on the base, some systems may last approximately 1–2 months, 3–4 months, or 4–6 months. With exceptional care, we have had clients maintain a unit for as long as 8–9 months.

For the best results, we recommend planning for approximately 3 hair systems per year. However, clients who are coachable and consistently follow their care and maintenance instructions may be able to successfully maintain 2 units within a year.

After your first hair system is installed and professionally cut in, we recommend purchasing your second unit within approximately 2–3 months. Once both units have been professionally cut in and customized for you, they can be alternated during your monthly maintenance appointments.

Rotating between two systems gives each unit a break from continuous daily wear and helps reduce normal wear and tear, which may extend the usable life of both systems. With proper care, maintenance, and rotation, clients may be able to get 6 months or longer from each unit, depending on the base and individual wear.

Hair-system longevity is never guaranteed and will vary from client to client. Following your stylist’s instructions and trusting the maintenance process are key to getting the most life possible from your investment.

Question 4

How often should I come in for hair system maintenance?

Accepted Answer

For most Non-Surgical Hair Replacement clients, professional maintenance is recommended every 4 weeks. Clients who prefer more frequent professional care may schedule maintenance weekly or every 2 weeks.

For many of our African American clients, maintenance may be scheduled every 4–6 weeks, depending on how often they shampoo, their lifestyle, scalp needs, and individual hair system.

Our trained professionals will recommend the maintenance schedule that is best for your individual needs.

Question 5

How should I care for my hair system at home?

Accepted Answer

Proper home care is extremely important and can help maintain the appearance, softness, and longevity of your hair system.

USE LUKEWARM OR COOL WATER ONLY. Never use hot water on your hair system. Hot water can dry out the hair and base, which may shorten the life of your system.

USE HAIR SYSTEM PRODUCTS ONLY. Use shampoos, leave-in conditioners, and cream conditioners specifically recommended for Non-Surgical Hair Replacement systems. Regular hair products may contain ingredients that are too harsh or drying for your system.

MOISTURIZE DAILY. Keep a spray bottle with water and your recommended leave-in conditioner available to lightly refresh and moisturize your hair as needed.

LESS IS MORE. Avoid over-shampooing, excessive brushing, and excessive combing. Too much manipulation can contribute to unnecessary shedding and shorten the life of your hair system.

DON’T OVERUSE STYLING PRODUCTS. If you use gel, hairspray, or another approved styling product, you do not have to reapply it every day. Product remains in the hair until it is shampooed. Applying more product every day creates buildup and requires more frequent shampooing.

USE CREAM CONDITIONER WHEN NEEDED. If your hair system begins to feel dry, use the recommended rinse-out cream conditioner to help restore moisture, softness, and shine.

A PROPER CUT-IN MAKES A DIFFERENCE. When your hair system is professionally cut-in and styled correctly, the haircut helps the hair naturally fall into its intended style, making everyday styling easier.

Remember: The less unnecessary manipulation, shampooing, heat, and product buildup your hair system experiences, the better you can protect its appearance and longevity.

At A Better You Hair Studio, our trained professionals will provide personalized maintenance and home-care instructions based on your specific hair system, attachment method, lifestyle, scalp needs, and hair texture.

Question 6

Can I shower, swim, and exercise normally?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our hair systems are designed so you can shower, swim, exercise, and enjoy an active lifestyle with confidence.

When shampooing, always use lukewarm or cool water—never hot water—and shampoo in moderation.

When swimming or exercising, remember that heat and perspiration can temporarily make the adhesive tacky. If you become hot, do not touch, pull, lift, or adjust your hair system. Allow your body and scalp to cool completely. As you cool down, the adhesive will firm back up and reseal.

If you're swimming, enjoy your laps, then get out of the pool and cool down before going back in. Think hot -> cool -> hot -> cool.

Most importantly: Live your life! Just follow your aftercare instructions and never manipulate your hair system while you're hot or sweating.

Question 7

Can you match my hair color?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Color matching is an important part of creating a natural, undetectable look. Our trained professionals carefully select the closest color, tone, and blend to complement your existing hair.

For Non-Surgical Hair Replacement, we consider your natural hair color, percentage of gray, highlights, undertones, and overall blend so your hair system transitions naturally with your existing hair.

For clients receiving natural hair services, we also work to achieve a beautiful, complementary color based on your desired look.

Our goal is always a seamless, natural-looking blend that looks and feels like YOU.

Question 8

What if I want to try a new style?

Accepted Answer

We love a style conversation! Our trained professionals are happy to discuss new looks, cuts, colors, and styles that complement your face shape, lifestyle, personality, and personal taste.

Feel free to bring inspiration photos or simply tell us what you're envisioning. We'll work with you to create a look that is natural, flattering, manageable, and uniquely YOU.

For our Non-Surgical Hair Replacement clients, we can also discuss different styling options based on your specific hair system, hair length, texture, density, and cut-in.

Whether it's your natural hair or your hair system, our goal is the same—to help you look good, feel confident, and become A Better You.

Question 9

Are payment plans available?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We have partnered with Cherry, Klarna, Affirm, and Afterpay to offer flexible "Treat Now, Pay Later" financing options. Details, eligibility, and terms are handled through the official application process — just ask during your consultation.

Question 10

Will my appointment be completely private?
